Vellore can be reached from Chennai, Bangalore,
Tirupathi, Pondicherry, and other places by bus, train
and cab.
Both luxury and ordinary transportation is
available to and from Vellore. Bus and train
reservations are normally available at short notice
(1-2 days in advance) except during peak travel
seasons (mid April - mid June, December - January, and
holiday seasons such as Diwali and Pongal). For travel
during peak seasons, reservations need to be made at
least a week in advance, and in some cases may even
need to be made over a month in advance. Details of

Cabs to and from Vellore are normally available
fairly easily. They usually charge between Rs.4 and
Rs.10 per kilometer depending on the type of vehicle
you opt for. Though cabs do stay to take tourists
around, the local cab facilities and auto rickshaws
would be a lot cheaper alternative, and are available
very easily.
Hotels are available to cater to almost every class
of guests from the affluent to the common. Even for
people who come to stay for extended periods of time
for treatment, there are guest houses and lodges that
